Waco

On our way into Austin, on the last day of our drive, we stop in Waco. It's about half way between Austin and DFW, about a 2 hour drive away. We've been by Waco many times but have never stopped in.

There's a collection of bronze cowboys at the old suspension bridge over the Brazos river which is just off the IH35. Further south in the city is the Magnolia Market at the Silos; an area developed and owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines. They are TV personalities best known for HGTV's Fixer Upper TV series. Kate's hair dresser has sent us here — she holidays here in Waco.

Sunny Sweeney, the musician, once told this story about how you simply cannot get any good Tex/Mex food north of Waco. She's probably right.

Billy Joe Shaver, another fine Texas singer/song writer, sadly gone now, was known as the "Wacko from Waco".
